Winner of the prestigious “Best Whistler Restaurant” by Vancouver magazine eleven years running, Araxi has established itself as the golden child of Whistler fine dining. Since its debut, Araxi has been wowing locals, visitors and worldwide critics year after year. Chef James Walt heads the stellar culinary team, as well as devises the restaurant’s menu. Walt received the utmost praise from renowned Chef and TV personality Gordon Ramsay, who chose Walt’s Araxi kitchen to be the prize for the winning chef of Hell’s Kitchen season 6.
Chef Walt’s menu rotates in accordance with the seasons, as his dishes are inspired by local and organic BC ingredients. Game and Land choices include lamb, Fraser valley free run chicken, Canadian Prime Tenderloin, and Roasted Venison. Fresh coastal offerings include red tuna, arctic char, scallops and Nova Scotia lobster.
Dinner items are served a la carte, so it is advisable to sample some of the excellent share options available, Pemberton potatoes, truffle fries, potato croquette and green beans- just to name a few.
Araxi also features a “raw bar” offering fresh sashimi, hand crafted sushi rolls, and oysters, a la carte.
In addition to spectacular five star dining, the wine selection offered by the restaurant is a wonder on its own. With a wine cellar containing over 11,000 bottles comprised of over 1000 labels, it is no wonder that Araxi employees a full time sommelier to assist guests with wine selection and pairing. The wine selection is very diverse with bottles from local vineyards and around the world.
Reservations are highly recommended for the restaurant especially on weekends and holidays. Prices are in accordance with a dining establishment of this stature, and for dinner you should be expecting to pay around $100 per guest. Araxi is located at 4222 Village Square, across from the liquor store.
